Self Confidence

Self-confidence is the Key to Success
Do you ever wish you had more
self-confidence? Self-confidence is one of the most
important feelings any adult or child can experience. In
fact, confidence in our abilities and ourselves often
account for the difference between people who succeed and
those who do not. Those who lack self-confidence
tend to rarely venture out of their comfort zone and
often remain in positions that no longer challenge them
nor even like.
But how do you become
self-confident?
Well, there are a number of things you can
do to build your self-confidence. One of the most
important, I believe, is learning new skills and
strengthening existing skills. The more skills you
have makes for an interesting life - acquire them and use
them. The more skills you have, the more interesting you
become. Skills inherently give us confidence and
raise our levels of self-esteem. Skills also help
us to feel competent and worthy, especially when we can
use them to accomplish personal and organisational
goals. That is why, when you are confronted with
any form of change you need to be enthusiastic as it
presents you with an opportunity to learn new
skills.
In addition to learning new skills, it is
also important to take the time to identify your own
successes. Think back to a time when you achieved
success, whether it was work related, a sporting
achievement or perhaps a hobby. Now close your eyes
and re-live the feelings you had at the time. How did
achieving your success make you feel? Take those
feelings and transfer them to the present for a dose of
self-confidence. Whenever I start to doubt myself,
I stop and take a minute to get a mental picture of a
past success and capture that emotion that comes with
picturing. This technique helps to build your
self-confidence through experiencing a past success you
had.
Successful
people or top performers are always looking for new
information in their vocation so they can maintain their
competitive advantage. They know that no matter who you
are, it is important that you never stop learning and
growing. And when you are busy learning new things and
improving on what you already know, you just naturally feel
more confident.
What will you do
today, tomorrow and in the future to continue growing and
building your self-confidence? Ultimately, it’s
up to you!
